Want to learn how to start the ketogenic diet? This video will give you the basics of ketosis and eating keto.

In a nutshell –

Ketosis is a metabolic state, in which the body has shifted from using glucose as the primary fuel source for supplying its energy demands with ketone bodies.

You can induce ketosis by fasting for around 3 days or by eating a low carb ketogenic diet with around 30-50 grams NET carbohydrates per day for several weeks.

There are many benefits to ketosis, such as improved biomarkers, reduced inflammation, mental clarity, more energy, easier fat loss and anti-aging

I’ve been doing keto for almost 3 years and I must say it has drastically increased my ability to stay energized and focused for long periods of time without having to eat or get sidetracked by hunger

You don’t need to be in ketosis all the time to be healthy or fit but what you should do is occasionally dip in and out of it

Custom Keto Diet

  1. Is there any way to get the benefits of intermittent fasting without going low carb? I have a healthy diet with very low fat and low sugar, but I'm a vegetarian, so my options are limited.

  2. just found your channel today bro but seen loads of your comments on other utube channels, loving your content man ??its all so overwhelming lol but ill get there 😉 thanks bro ❤

  3. I got a question, I did keto first time in my life for one week, my kidneys pained like hell and got all swole. Can you suggest what i did wrong?
I was taking my vitamins and Electral salts etc.
My my bowels stopped completely for seven days

Siim, what is “a few weeks?” Three weeks? Twenty weeks? One hundred weeks? Quit using the word “few.” You lose credibility. Few is not a measure of quantity.

  5. SIIM, what do you think – what is the reason of swollen face during the first few days of kept adaptation? I have salt, magnesium and potassium. Maybe body is changing for another metabolic pathway than with glucose in the diet and don't has enough energy now? The caloric deficit isn't huge, only 300 kcal +/-.

  6. Hi Siim!
Stumbled across your channel a couple of weeks ago, amazing and inspiring content.
I'm planning to start to train heavy Olympic lifting again after some months of break from it. Then I used primarily a very high carb vegan-ish diet. Gave me great results but I feel I'm gravitating toward the whole fasting approach to eating, and the step towards the keto diet feels natural.
Anyhow, my question is; when you yourself eat OMAD, about how many calories does that meal content? Really looking forward experimenting with training on a low carb diet. Thank you for the inspiration. Greetings from Sweden!

  7. There is no way gluconeogenesis happens if ur fasting… After glycogen depletion the next target is fat not protein due to production of anabolic hormones that preserve muscle and break down fat….

  8. Hey Siim! Do you believe the adaptation period would be shorter, and or easier of you've already been doing intermittent fasting (OMAD) for quite some time?
